Frequently Asked Questions

Can I ship an inoperable vehicle?

Of course. All you need to do is let your car shipping company know in advance that the vehicle doesn’t run. You should know, however, that you will have to pay a small fee, as such vehicles are harder to mount onto a moving carrier that the ones you can drive. Special equipment is required to do that, hence the additional cost. Make sure you check with your car transporters how much the fee is.

How much will auto shipping cost me?

There is no definite answer to this question. The cost is determined on a case-to-case basis according to several factors. These include the type, size, weight, and condition of your vehicle, the distance of the trip, the time of the year, the time of the week, as well as other factors. The best way to know how much auto shipping will cost you is to contact us and request a cost estimate.

Will my car be insured during transport?

All car shipping companies are required by law to insure your vehicle. This insurance is usually worth around $750,000, but varies depending on the type of the vehicle. However, if you want to be extra safe, you can obtain insurance from a third party as well.

Do I need to be there for the pickup and delivery?

Technically, yes. However, if you are unable to be present for either (or both) occasions, you can assign a trustworthy person to do it for you. All you need to do is inform the car transporters about it. However, someone has to be present. Your car cannot be picked up or delivered without anyone there – it is against the law.

How Long Will It Take To Pick Up My Vehicle

Over 90% of our orders ship inside of one week. That could be anywhere from 1 to 7 days. Most of the U.S. population lives in a major metropolitan area and is shipping to another well populated area, and that makes a big difference. Cars usually ship in a very regular manner, almost half within just a few days. If either your origination or destination locations are away from population centers, in other words in a remote area, then you might consider meeting a driver in a nearby big city or town to increase your chances of shipping timely. Remember, anyone you choose can serve as your point of contact, which takes the stress out of shipping your vehicle.

Can I ship things in my car?

Absolutely not. Car shipping companies are licensed to transport vehicles, and vehicles only. Transporting personal belongings (pieces of furniture in the trunk, for example) is against the law and can result in serious complications. Your vehicle will be weighed prior to loading, so don’t count on sneaking anything in. The most you can transport in your vehicle is up to 50 pounds of linen, clothes, or something similar. If you need to ship household items, contact a cross-country moving company and arrange for their professionals to do it for you.
